I am returning my current leased car in July and need pointers on selecting my next car.

My budget is $600 per month with possibility of downplaying $10000 for the right car

Now because I will be looking at a luxury sports car, leasing might make the most sense

My requirements are for the most part should be a standout car and not a common one

Here’s what I have shortlisted at the moment:
1. Tesla Model 3 either performance or all wheel drive
Pros: great car, driveability, awesome tech, power and punch, green - no gas
Cons: Everyone has it in Seattle :)

2. Used Tesla Model S in the range of $40k....this is just a thought right now..coz I will have to buy it..new car lease is almost $1000..

3. Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti Sport AWD
Pros: Same trim level as the quadrifoglio - so same looks, decent power, Affordable lease around $450, stands out, quirky but delicious
Cons: No V6, only 280 hp, reliability might be an issue but since it will be leased might be ok, again not a quadrifoglio so not amazing

4. Infiniti Q60S coupe
Pros: Extremely good looking car, coupe with 4 seats, nice interior, good ergonomics, decent power, reliable
Cons: weird handling, not the same snob value as some other luxury brands, could have been quicker but feels heavy

5. Other cars that I considered but am on the fringe:
A) Maserati Ghibli - nice car , snobbish, stands out but a little expensive on lease and too big for me
B) Jaguar XE - Great car but in the new version very underpowered engine, no supercharged V6 so a no go
C) Audi, BMW and Mercedes - Almost every other person has these in Seattle so no ..

Help me pick a car folks..I am fine with inclining towards a heart driven decision over mind since it would be a lease

Thanks!

haha, im frugal, but having a lp on it sounds like bad leadership. Being frugal doesn't make or contribute to anybody being a leader..

First of all, don't ever put a down payment on a lease. Secondly, BMW has by far the best lease programs on luxury vehicles, followed by Mercedes. But if you don't want either, go for the Alfa or Infiniti. Tesla leases are trash, if you want one, just buy it. Tesla has good deals on inventory models right now

Wise words...can you please elaborate on Tesla leases and why are they trash ? Their operating model so far has been leases

Tesla leases have an incredibly high money factor (interest rate) and don't discount cars from MSRP (with the exception of inventory models). They generally don't offer lease incentives either. The best leases come from a combination of a high residual value, low money factor, and big discount from MSRP. Tesla leases very rarely fulfill these criteria.

Check out sites like leasehackr to learn the basics. From what I've heard, Seattle dealers are tough to negotiate with. Be prepared to look outside of Seattle proper if you want a good deal

  • I just bought an infiniti q50 - same engine and trans as q60 just a sedan. Super happy with it. Step on the gas and that 0-60 time will feel great.
No its not a tesla. Or an M. But it's reliable, affordable, and a great value.

Watch De Muro's YouTube video about the Ghibli.

You could buy a used lotus elise and another boring car separately for your 4 seats with the savings since the elise is pretty cheap to own all in.

The elise has been $30k used for forever. We should honestly back our currency with the used elise market, it's just so insanely stable.

Since you're taking no depreciation loss and that is the biggest cost of owning a luxury car, it's actually crazy cheap to own, and there really aren't many cars that are more fun at any price.

Get the Infiniti Q60S for reliability, perf and a good looking coupe and then drive it for 100k+ miles without problems.

If you want a lot of fun, you can get a cpo m3 or m4 competition.

Acura after the previous gen TL..which was alive until 2009 has lost its sheen..this is my opinion..I have owned a 2006 TL and was one of the better cars to own and drive ..post that their cars are just too ugly, less sporty and have lost the snob value

I don’t know why a lot of people having the car is a factor for you to not buy it. Go drive a 3 and then drive any other car on that list. I honestly don’t thing you’d consider anything else on that list after that.

I own one and owned German brands before. Believe me when I say the 3 is on a different level. Fit and finish perfection is not going to be top of the line though. But the driving experience, autopilot and other tech make up for it.

Why are you so hung up over the common factor? Get over it, this isn’t high school anymore. People buy cars that are good (in value and features/perf), making them common. Or you can get a more unique car like the Alfa - which is probably unique because most of them are in the shop most of the time...
