How was the offer compared to G stocks? I am getting 800k for L6 at UBER. Mind sharing your numbers. Also what do you miss from G?
Wow! 800k? I am guessing this is Sr. SWE offer? How many years of experience if I may ask? Are you native English speaker?
L6 is staff, so it's normal. Might be even a bit on the low end comparing to other staff engineers.
Lol you for sure believe you are getting that 800k?
I made the move a few years ago, now the equity worths millions, not a single thread of regret
Are you sure it really worths that much? 😏
According to the tender, which I’m selling a bunch. Finger crossed
800K/yr is decent for L6. But if 800k/4yr it sucks. Had an L4 offer 18 mo ago 1.1m/4yr
L4 offer from Uber or ??
Yes eng 2
I got an offer with $1m 2 years back from Uber but decided to join Google as l4 because of competing offer. The current value of the stock is $1.3m
What was Google's offer? What do you mean "because of competing offer"? Google matched?
Google's offer was 150k base, 50k signon, 1285 GSUs. Google matched 70% of Ubers stock offer at that time.
These numbers look insane to me. I'm an l6 manager and I have 4 l6 reports. We are all in the 150-250k/yr in equity. Where are these million dollar L4s coming from?
Got lucky with stock price jump :). I got an offer with 1285 GSUs 2 years back at L4. Anyways got to L5 recently.
1285 GSUs are way out of the realm of really for an l4 offer. You must be really special.
I'm pretty happy here but miss the well thought out platform code at Google. On the flip side, here you don't have retarded processes like the Code Readability. Are you sure it's L6 and not L5b? Also is the 800k per year or over 4 years. If it's over 4, that seems very low.
I thinks it’s over 4 years. And, from what I know - now we no longer give 7 digit equity at joining to anyone below L7 ( due to Equity parity) and refresh is supposed to incentivize those who truly add value.
I joined 2 years ago and I have a lot of regrets but I am grateful to have worked at uber. Full of jerks, low salary, no bonus since I fell in bottom 20% of bell curve. I need the stock.to double for it to be worth it. More work, more stress, I don't think it has been worth it.
I didn't like the culture of bottom.20% hence decided to join Google over Uber where I decide to pace my career.
I miss a lot about Google. I miss it a lot! But I also hated a lot about it, uber gives me everything that Google was missing, but it comes with baggage.
If you’re making 800K a year then I am fucking proud of you. That’s nuts. Drop me a DM if you’d like to learn about the startup I founded. We’re a ubiquitous online shopping platform for clothing. Think of Amazon, but JUST clothing.
I moved 15 months back, similar to your case. Feel free to PM me, if you need to talk
