Am I stupid to prepare for FAANG if I am from Mainframe background?

I have been working as Mainframe Developer from last 6 years and my linkedin profile says same.

I want to prepare for FAANG to secure my career. I am good at Java though I haven’t written any production code.

1) What should I say on my resume, linkedIn and interview about my past experience? If I say, I am from Mainframe, they might reject right?

My TC is 120k.

Don’t know about others but I always appreciate people who step out of their comfort zone and learn something new.

Not necessarily rejected but be ready for some potential down leveling. It might actually be a good thing when you think about your career in the long term. Better to come in at a lower level and build a solid base and momentum than come in high and struggle. It’s not good for you nor your employer.

If you are young and not well settled then definitely come here. But if you have a family and are happy and settled then it is not worth it
