What is the deal with managers who post jobs and then ignore internals who reach out to discuss? Isn't this supposed to be a big advantage of working at Amazon, and often, a big advantage for the HM? How about some ownership? I tend to be so much less interested in that job and working for that lazy HM when I have to beg them to talk to me. What gives, managers?
Not an engineer, but even so, we are a high feedback culture. Say it, then everyone can move on and/or make plans to improve, per feedback.
Lazy, sometimes just busy, but yeah, we've probably all been there. Let's hope they get the same treatment someday. Dicks.
Maybe it's you.
Doubtful since I am tenured, have clear progression and possess a strong skill set outlined in the basic qualifications. I'm not even sure I want the job, just want to talk to the guy. It's just laziness on his part, but I did expect a Blind troll to come along with a dickish "maybe it's you" comment.
Maybe they are not desperate to hire new people? It is the same everywhere, not just in amzn. When they are desperate to hire, oh boy, you bet your ass they will try to lure you in.
+1 same issue I see in Oracle, apply internally where you think will be food fit and you don't get any response of your email or application. strange part is sometime 1-2 HM responded and ask - Can you please apply ? Dude, I have applied and thats is why I am following up, don't your check applications ??
Oracle hiring system sucks. It did not notify any applications from internal or external! At least that was the case when i was there
There are tons of internal postings dangling that are no longer open. Happened to me today - got an email on an SDE1 req. I have asked recruiting to close it out three times since we don't have HC now. If an SDM ignores you, safe bet the job req is no longer open and they are just annoyed because they keep getting tons of emails on it. To be fair, I have tried to reply to everyone who has emailed on this bogus req.
definitely laziness
Really? If any internal applies my job, I would response same day!! Also, it might be the hire system not sending notification. Send the email directly to the manager!
en·quire inˈkwī(ə)r,enˈkwī(ə)r/Submit verbBRITISH another term for inquire.
Its the new industry standard, no one hires internals anymore, that was so the 20th century. In the 21st century, external candidates are the way to go apparently.
Maybe the manager looked at the internal candidate’s code/wiki commits, didn’t like them,
