I'm currently about to do the first interview with Amazon. The recruiter asked me for my salary range. Current TC: 125K YOE: 8 Given the research I've done I feel like that is low. The role does say that it only requires 3 years of experience and some good technical knowledge. Please, any thoughts! I want to move forward because I'd love to work at Amazon but I don't want to undersell myself.
Never say say ur salary range until u got an offer in hand. There’s just too much to write on why it isn’t a good idea to provide salary range in the beginning. Please do some googleing.
Salary range helps with leveling. Which dictates comp band. Don't tell how much you make. Say you are looking for high xxx thousand of comp. But obviously given large range we can chat after an offer
I disagree, leveling should base on skills and YOE not comp history.
Sounds like you’re interviewing for an L5. That’s not low for that position.
I have experience in multi billion dollar projects, have a PMP, data analyst experience with Python, R, and so on. Come from a project management experience.
You might want to get a product manager role instead of program manager. Paid better as well.
If you already told the recruiter your salary range, you fucked up a big time.
I come from the construction industry so I feel like it's still a prospect worth pursuing, perhaps. How likely is it to move up to the next level once inside? Or salary increases given the YOE and location.
Once you are inside noone cares about your yoe or previous experience. Negotiate now because you will have almost 0 leverage later.
Do you have an MBA? If not, very unlikely that they’d bring you in as an L6 with 8 YOE. You are definitely applying to an L5 role and they’re not going to budge much on salary.
With 8yoe you can be senior pm (l6)
I think so as well
