This is a rant about interview experience at amazon. I have Interviewed for Amazon twice. On my first try they took just 2 rounds on the given day and said system design will happen on a later day face to fac but they scheduled it over a video call out of the blue without enough notice later which I bombed following which the recruiter ghosted me. On my second attempt too they were just able to take 2 rounds on the given day due to mismanagement. One of these rounds were actually a coding round which I finished well before time and a hiring manager round since only he was free that day which went okayish but after the rounds recruiter clearly told me that the rounds went well and they will get in touch with me for further rounds but he has ghosted me since. Why even tell me they will proceed when they didn't have any intentions to do that. Also they can just say no in mail now if they have changed their mind. Are they always like this? I've interviewed at multiple other places but have had a better experience everywhere else, even at tier 2 companies. I had a pretty great image about the company earlier and it was one of my target companies but now I don't know if it's a place I want to work at.
Move on. The way you need Amazon , Amazon should also need you.
Just pissed at them for wasting my time. I chose to interview for them rather than going for Adobe and another startup which had a hiring drive on the same day.
Am just curious, how long did you wait before applying the second time?
Not very long. They were for different teams and locations and didn't ask me if I was in cooldown.
All companies do this :-/
Usually they don't do this, they send back in few days if you are rejected. If the recruiter said the interview went that doesn't mean anything, they can change their mind anytime.
I'm sorry this happened to you. No, Amazon isn't always like this. All the people I know who went through an interviewing loop had a great experience with their recruiter. It can be site dependent. Did you get a referral?
May be you got a rookie recruiter but usually they don’t do this
Recruiters are like this everywhere don’t worry
It’s common, I think it depends on how organized the recruiter is. Example: I did a phone interview at Snap. A week later, I emailed to see if Snap would be moving forward since I had other interviews lined up and wanted to align timelines if they were. Snap recruiter emailed me 3wks later saying she lost my email, probably read it on her phone and forgot to mark it back unread, asked if I was still interested. Was way too late in the process for me by then.
Yes, they’re mostly like this.
