Amazon asking for current and expected comp before onsite

Interviewing for Amazon in Europe for a Senior TPM role. Amazon is asking for current and expected comp (broken down no less) before on site.

Is this normal? Am I ok to withhold current comp? Should I give expected comp up front? How to play this...

This is exactly how I responded. Kicking off the first phone interview today.

โ€œWould love to understand the role more in terms of scope, functions, accountabilities, etc. but I expect a competitive total compensation on par with the other top companies and aligned to my qualifications and what I bring to the business.โ€

Amazon has a rule to not ask for current comp, idk who is asking you this but they shouldn't be.

Itโ€™s some kind of templated email so seems to me to be SOP here at least.

Amazon adjusted policy and sent a global email recently about *not* asking for current comp since itโ€™s illegal in some states.

P.S. not sure about Europe but I believe eng Base is fixed at 160k and it is RSU that move things up.

  • Say your current comp is confidential as per agreement with your current employer. Asking for TC is completely legal in Europe(at least in country I live).

Share targeted comp. You want to make sure you donโ€™t waste both peopleโ€™s time if theyโ€™re interviewing for a junior role and youโ€™re applying for senior role.
