I have an on-site interview for Software Engineer role, the recruiter mentioned that the on-site interview will be modified half-day round instead of traditional full day interview, so what is the difference? Also I have some experience in industry so I am sure I am not being considered for New Grad position. Will the interview focus on more of LP principles or coding and design or everything included.
They focus on everything. LP is as important as coding and design. Make sure you have enough examples to cover the LPs
Probably mostly technical one non tech.
Every interview will ask for LPs regardless
I am also interested in knowing about the difference between Half day vs full day interview. Is it good to have Half day interview or will it be too intense ?
Full day is 1 hour for 5 interviewers which can be considered half day since 5 hours is obviously not a real full day. For some reason sometimes they call 5 hour interview a half day and sometimes they call 5 hour a full day. There is really no difference.
I just had a talk with the recruiter and he said that Half day interview is basically 4 rounds of 45 min each instead of 5-7 rounds including lunch part.
Also you need to study behavior based questions and be able to go far into the details as well as know the usual data structures and algorithms from leetcode.com and object oriented for whatever language you use. Also be sure to know how to design database or APIs and how all that works or something similar.
I had a modified half day interview at Amazon, I wrote up the experience here https://leetcode.com/discuss/interview-experience/297523/SDE2-at-Amazon-Fashion-Technology-Seattle-WA-Onsite/
Perfect 👍, thanks for sharing.
No prob, feel free to ask if you have any more questions about it. I'm happy to answer anything that doesn't break my NDA
Might just be an experiment on whether reduced interview loops affect performance of hires. I wouldn't read too much into it .
Ask which level you are interviewing for ... # of rounds depend on levels ... Yes there will be LP questions for all Amazon positions ...
I'll update you with that information by today.
The job description says 3+ years of professional software development experience. Does that give you any idea about the level? I'll be talking to the recruiter about the level later today. I am more interested in knowing how does Half day compare to full day interview? Is it beneficial for me or will it be too intense?
