What’s the amazon onboarding process like? How long before I start committing code? SDE2 Offered TC: 220k
Depends on the team, generally it's long and complicated - but try hard to get your first CR up in your second week. Also be sure that cr has a lot of tests and solid code style ( most groups have an editor config for that laying around )
Agreed that generally “bias for action” means you’ll have the opportunity to get your first cr up quickly, but how quickly depends on the ramp up required to contribute to your team. If there are no tasks that make sense to be done without a lot of background understanding of the system, you may have to spend a longer time learning before you can write code, and that’s ok :)
I heard new hires are expected to build something that increases Amazon’s revenue by 3% within the first two months of starting. Just saying what I heard.
