Does amazon salary tapers down after first 4 years wherein first 2 years you get joining bonus and next 2 years rsu
Yes. There is a compensation cliff after 4 years, unless you get promoted.
Assuming no promotion, your target comp will continue at the rate of your initial offer, plus the measly base salary bumps you may have earned. So if your day 1 target comp was 225K, you’d fall back to somewhere around 235K. Subsequent refreshers will be one year in advance, thus preventing the lucky windfall you may have had in years 3 and 4 due to unexpected stock price increase beyond the predicted 15% per annum.
What if you do get a promotion? Any signon like boost on 5th and 6th year? Or is it all base and RSUs after first two years?
No cash bonuses beyond the sign on. Base will never be a dramatic move (except when promoted), there’s a narrow band for job family and level (and region) and you’ll never exceed its limit. A promotion will jump you from one band (where you’re likely at the top) to the next (where you’ll likely join at the bottom). RSUs are used to fill in the gap to your “target comp”, and the refresher is based on current share price. So a $50K grant/refresher in early 2017 yielded more shares than the same one today.
Won't you accumulate more RSU in 4 years of work based on performance
I hear no because stock goes up
