Looking good Waymo. Is there any room, any more room for me...in those teams. I am starting the interview process with Waymo and wonder if a job there would actually work out for me. My background is mostly in web applications, I have zero experience in ML and Computer Vision. So I would be the rat's tail, so to speak. Can the average developer without a dozen patents in ML and Computer Vision thrive at Waymo? Are non core teams such as data infrastructure considered less important by leadership? How is the interview process at Waymo?
Q: can I do well at a specialized job with non-specialized skills? A: maybe, but probably not
There's gotta be some non-specialized teams doing less interesting work though. I know I'll never be able to hit the ground running in a specialized team.
You certainly can work at waymo! You don't need to do and ml and they accept generalists to do generalist work.
Unlikely, not a lot of web apps stuff. You don't have to do ML vision but you should focus on infrastructure as your alternative "way in"
Do you work or have worked at Waymo? I'm also guessing they wouldn't invest in me learning ML/Computer Vision on company time.
How did you get an interview opportunity then ?
Beats me. I’m not skilled in the tech stack for the position I applied for.
What's your yoe ? Wondering if the position asks for CV or ML ?
8. The position didn’t mention either. Pm me for more details.
