So, in last two weeks, I had two onsite interviews and got a rejection from both. for the second one I was very confident and optimistic and after the interview I was so sure that I almost made it but got rejected. was kinda disheartened as I would have to start everything from scratch again. Have been playing GTA after work past couple days after hearing the rejection. also have been doing job applications. Do not have any calls lined up next. Gave a coderpad round this Monday(yet to hear back for a follow up). have a telephonic HR screening elsewhere tomorrow. I have not been getting as many calls as expected. 1.5 YOE, Full stack. Any words of wisdom for me? any tips or advice if you have been in the same boat? badly need this big bump in compensation. nothing I hate about my current job. just need that compensation bump and move to bigger city where ny girlfriend is working because eventually, will be settling down there.
Look at this 5 years from now and assess whether it would matter or not...the reality is every place has issues...big comp makes you weaker in long run.... ultimately if you look back at life...most learning happens when you are in slight stress...so embrace this discomfort and keep trying....
Read mihaly flow book/video...it's pretty interesting ...
Well said. On it. :)
similar story, applied to 100+ jobs in last 3months, got response from 8 of them, of which 2 rejected and 6 ghosted.
Keep going! Good luck! :)
Thanks bro 😭
Sometimes they just interview to show they went through the process though they already have someone in mind
I would agree on this one.
Hang in there! I gave 3 interviews in last week and got all rejects. Keep leeting 🤘we all just need that one good day!!
Haha. Yeah. Leetcode, the ultimate savior. The questions that I did not attempt when practising on Leetcode where the ones that were asked to me during my Amazon onsite and the rest is history. Need that kind of luck to complement the hardwork. :)
Good thing is, now when you solve it, you'll never forget it! 😁
17 yoe, also need a bump. Can’t play GTA, gotta hustle to feed family. Badly means someone’s dying if you don’t get a bump. Is that the case for you?
My case is different. Not comparable to yours. I hope you get where you want to be and get the bump that you deserve. Keep fighting. We all have our own problems and situations to fight for. For me, its paying up a my own education + property loan that my father took for me. He had a car accident last year and has been on and off work since then. He is a doctor so, he either goes to work and earns and if he is home, he earns nothing. So I have been a financial pillar for the family, taking care of my younger brothers education, paying up loans. To be honest, my life here is paycheck to paycheck. One paycheck pays my education loan and other one pays my expenses here with my car loan and an education loan here. Not getting married because, don't have that kind of money to get married right. A bump for me means, drastic change in situation. With my current pace, it will take me time to come out of this financial mess. The fight is on to get what I deserve. Had a phone screen call today and will be getting a coderpad round scheduled soon. Between me posting this post yesterday and today, things changed. Hopefully they change for good. Keep fighting bud! Also, if I could be of any help to you, please reach out. I can try and help you within my capabilities. Good luck!
I am in the same boat buddy, four people live off my paycheck and this has been my situation for more than 10 years. And I survived, and bought an apartment for my dad and two cars and we travel internationally, etc etc etc. One day I manage 100 people, next day I drive Lyft after work to save to pay the taxes. Life is funny that way. Anything you can do to share the financial burden with others, you should. With gig economy, no one has excuse to not work unless they are sick. If my experience has taught me anything is that it is hard to land your dream job if you are on edge and desperate. Good luck buddy, feel to dm me if you wanna talk.
have tough skin, just hustle! don’t give up
Yup. On it. But sometimes, I am distracted and feel helpless. Other times I am grinding all the way. This has been the longest I have been distracted. I think its because I really put a lot into these two onsite interviews. Sleep and food deprived for more than a month.
health is always more important, don’t sacrifice that. Rather practice over more days/months instead of sacrificing sleep to squeeze it in
