Apple vs Amazon
Apple ICT3 : 140k base + 105k/4 rsu + 30k sign on location : cupertino Amazon SDE1: 130k base + 43(5%,15%,40%,40%) rsu + 65k/2 sign on location : seattle Both are really good offer. For Apple it will be a DevOps role and Amazon it will be a SDE role. My background is more in line with DevOps. Amazon pros: lower CoL, no state tax, easy to switch team internally cons: WLB, gloomy weather Apple pros: Bay area, nice team, good culture, better rsu + refresher from what I heard cons: team will relocate to San Diego in the future (not sure will it be good or bad), rent is $$$ in the Bay area, heard it is hard to switch team internally Just want to get some insight about the career prospect on sde vs devops and which one would you choose and why? Any other factors I should consider for making the decision?

If you are good at devops your chances of succeeding in that role are higher
San Diego has much better weather than Seattle. Wish our team could move from Cupertino to San Diego 😢

Wlb is team dependent. You won’t know till you join. I say amazon
You can always find a different team and move as SDE to Bay Area.. AWS/lab; if location is that important.
