I am planning to meet with a certified financial planner to get this advice on my savings and investment strategies and If could improve upon them. How do I show him my portfolios? Are print outs of statements from Mint or Personal Capital sufficient? Or is something else preferred? Any gotchas? TC : 250K
Alright hereās what you do, give him your ssn, bank account numbers and routing numbers, any checks you have, any and all passwords to all accounts you have, debit card pin, drivers license and passport
They'll ask you for details. Have them ready. Ask them before hand what all info they'll need from you.
Pick one from here: https://www.napfa.org/ Make sure they are fee only for advice. Don't pay Assets under management for ongoing advice (AUM). Pay once for strategy $1-5k and then implement yourself.
Is it worth paying $5k for overall planning ?
Take a laptop and just show him/her anything you need to.
A good one should provide you a PFS form to fill out. Then they use this as a basis to ask specific questions.
