Hi guys! Just curious to find out how much you guys pay in auto insurance per year. I'm paying around $850 for liability and comprehensive, with fairly generous compensation limits (100/300 and 50 for property). No accident history, but fairly new to the US. What about you?
I pay $270 a month
I pay 80$ per month. Full coverage. Using Geico
$600/yr for two cars (liability only but max limits)
Are you the only driver?
500/yr
Metromile 600 per yr. No comprehensive. Max limits.
I pay $1200 a year with two cars
My insurance guy is asking $154 per month for 1 car I hardly use and renters insurance. He is saying it's expensive because I live in San Francisco. This is Farmers insurance. Is this very expensive?
I don't know much about renters, since I don't have it, although I'd imagine it must be pretty cheap. Whether it's expensive really depends on the insurance terms. Does it include full coverage?
Renters insurance should be around $13/ mo
State ( locality) is a major factor in car insurance rates so unless you specify that the comps are meaningless. Also your deductible plays a key roles, so does your car type and your limits to a lesser extent. Basically any response is comparing apples to deadbolts.
Correct
The point of the thread is to do a ball park comparison. Your car type should only matter for comprehensive/collision. And different deductible/liabilities explain minor price variations, not 2x ones (which are so often observed with auto insurance). Why does locality matter so much?
Insurance is regulated by state. State minimums differ. Insurers adjust prices to be competitive in the local market. Deductibles Are not a minor variation. It’s the difference between filing a claim for a door scrape versus an actual accident. Refer to your health insurance for how deductibles matter. Your car type matters of course. That should be Clearly obvious. It’s a cost thing. Same reason why a condo is cheaper to insure than a mansion. I’m not trying to be a dick, bro but I don’t think these responses give you anything meaningful.
I’m in IN. Our politicians (literally) fellate insurers for donations (money too). Few info is off limits.
Mine depends on miles driven on each month. Using Metromile insurance. Last time I checked, it was the best price for my conditions. Mainly for commute, short distances.
How much is it per mile?
I pay $46.5 base + $0.066 per mile for a single car. Full coverage and everything is at max. It depends on you, the car(s) etc.
