Baby boomer in Atlanta

Used to work at NCR for many years, but they did a round of layoffs a while back. They’re still doing layoffs too. 15+ YOE in corporate financial planning & real estate (management) Looking for tips for places to go that won’t have an issue hiring a baby boomer. Having some trouble and am honestly wondering if age is the problem.

The Northeast. We have plenty of older folks working in insurance and fintech. The pay is good for someone of your level, the projects are huge, the attitude is chill. Also lots of demand since we're not popular with the SV crowd. Enjoy a lower COL and nearly equal TC once you factor in the cheaper COL.

Northeast attitude is most certainly not more chill than the south. Grew up in NE, now live in ATL. I disagree with cost of living as well. Add in snow, and I wouldn’t think OP would want to move. Probably has family in the south as well

Idk where you're thinking of... but around here people are pretty decent. Grew up in NE - and I didn't need to leave to get a good job. It's fine here. NYC/Boston are exceptions - anyone living on the I95 corridor is a fool. Anyways, towards older folks - our orgs up here hire them. That's what OP was asking about: getting a decent tech job while being older. Absolutely the NE is more forgiving to older folks.

Thanks for posting. Moving isn’t ideal, but I’m open to it, if the alternative is poverty. Got a kid in college, so definitely need to be gainfully employed.

NCR is rotten. They did the same thing in Dayton because the CEO wanted to stay in NYC. Lay everyone off and lose long timers. I feel like the company never fully rebounded.
