Bay Area young people

Where do you guys stay/rent/live if you work in the South Bay (MTV, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale areas). Handle the rough commute by living in the city and taking the shuttle to work OR just reside in the “non-eventful” South Bay with an easier commute? :)

Live in non-eventful South Bay to save commute time during the week and then commute on the weekends to city for eventful events

22. Live and work in Redwood City and never go to the city, hang out with friends in South Bay or playing games.

If u r commuting from sf to south bay for work.. I don’t think you will have time for any events in sfo.. the commute will be your event

Cool perspective bro. Do you even know what you're talking about?

May be you can enlighten me on what you didn’t understand

Def commute from sf Work is mandatory so you'll end up doing that commute either way - but if you live in South Bay you probably will feel lazy after a while and stop going to sf for parties and events (which unlike work you will feel no guilt skipping) thereby hurting your social life.

Many places are affordable if you don't need school district and rent. Campbell, Milpitss, and Santa Clara are safe and relatively affordable, and short commute.

Palo alto and mountain view are slightly more fun but pricier. Personally I don't see the point in living in SF. You get hit with the double whammy of long commute AND high rent. I actually used to commute from Sunnyvale (home) to SF for work every day for a year. (1.5-2 hours each way) It sucked but my rent was free at least. But I had very little social life. I had basically my bf at the time and that's all.

Live in menlo Park, I'm always driving up to the city for concerts though

I live by downtown San Jose and have commuted to downtown sf in the past for work. It gets tiring, but there's so many events in San Francisco that I don't mind going back to the city during the weekends to hang out with friends. Personally, I wouldn't want to live in sf. No parking, high rent, and the commute time from home to sf would probably still be the same.
