Curious what Airlines/Aerospace company employees get as their benefits -- if there's anything special or different. Care to share what some of the best benefits you get are?
Good health care, bad employee discounts when we had the consumer goods store, 15k a year for education if you want to pursue that
Yeah I'd say education is one of the only differences from other non aerospace tech companies I've worked in.
You get (mostly) free standby flights when you work at any airline. There's no guarantee that you get on though, so you can get stranded trying to come home. AA also gives a straight 20% discount on paid tickets.
Free(not mostly unlike other airlines) unlimited standby flights for you, a companion, parents, spouse, and children. standby flights that are 90% off for almost every other airline you can think of for same dependents above. Super discounts on cruiselines and Disney parks. 9.3% 401k match. Great healthcare. We get SWAG points for showing up to work (attendance, though PTO doesn't count against this) as well as for achieving certain targets or getting praised. This is redeemable for gift cards, buddy passes, etc(I use this extensively). 10% discount on any airport purchases. Great Crew hotel discount depending on availability (this is for all employees, not just Crew). Profit sharing(varies between 8-13% of salary), handed in cash and to retirement.
Also random cash bonuses throughout the year for meeting industry wide metrics...totaling about $1500 per year. Also a metric ton of cultural events, parties, free food, and free alcohol throughout the year if that's your thing lol
Biggest perk aside from the usual is a 15k Tution reimbursement towards getting your private pilot's license..
I never really understood “good” medical benefits...that is until I took my current position. Free medical benefits! Well till a certain pay range. That met the “good” medical claim. With medical there is an Health Savings Account that the company automatically puts in a flat $1200. You can add more to it. What’s great about it is you an invest a portion of your money in funds that grow equity. Unique program! They also have a group that comes out to our remote site and provides yearly health screenings....FREE! They have a rather big discount program on goods and travel...to many to list. They are big in education college and self taught.
I don’t think the health benefits you’re describing are unique at all... many tech companies offer high deductible plans for which you can get an HSA to contribute and get free money every year ($1500 at Apple). Would having an employee-only clinic where you can do free screening any many regular medical and dental issues, be better than what you described?
Is this the case at all Boeing locations and levels?
Unfortunately it is not. Highly dependent on location and whether you are part of a union (different unions have different benefits).
Depending on department and most likely immediate manager/MD, work from home is possible, comp time, additional pay raises, department jackets, shirts, team off-sites with giveaways, catered meetings, you get to go to conferences, international meetings/conferences too (easier getting business class - yes, food alone on flight worth it), paid for hotel, meals, and flexible with schedules possible to go earlier, stay longer (as long as approved), opportunities to work with manufacturers, other airlines, operators, training opportunities (internal and industry), certifications, etc. I think it is all about how skillful one is in getting more benefits. With airlines, travel is amazing 🥳 and with AA destinations are incredible.
Can we be friends and trade buddy passes please? Haha. In my experience, it's been easier to nonrev domestically on Southwest (due to way more flights per day) but the international advantage is all AA!
we get free bananas
We all that scurvy prevention 😂
Lunch
Dinner
Same as anywhere else in my opinion maybe it changes for people higher up.
