Whats the best SF neighborhood for a single male? Safety and cleanliness as a priority. Looking for studio apartment <=3200. TC 145k
What do you like to do for fun?
Walk around, rock climb, nature stuff. Not that big into night life/bars.
You forgot Leetcode
Cole Valley, Nopa, Alamo Square, the entire sunset, etc. Basically anywhere but downtown, soma, bayview, or the TL.
This. Richmond too. Marina will be on the expensive side but probably still within that budget
Tenderloin!
New York.
Considering Dogpatch. From crime and poop maps looks pretty nice.
Probably anything but SoMa
Following. I’m looking for studios right now as well but I think 3.2k is too high for 145k TC. I make around the same and 2.5k is my max (though 2k should be).
I’ve always heard 1/3 of gross salary as max to spend on housing, which this comes well below for me. Why do you think it’s too high?
Is 145k cash? In which case yeah that should be okay.
Glen park is nice too
Interested in why everyone is against SoMa? Price related or something else?
I live in SoMa, and I think my apartment is overpriced (but I pay a moderate amount so it doesn't piss me off as much). The area is industrial and filthy. Walking on Mission towards FiDi is probably the worst part of my day. This other day I literally walked out of my building and saw this woman pissing on the sidewalk and loudly yelling "can't you get me a piece of TP for my coochie?". Not the most...pleasant sight at 7:30 AM. I'm close to the freeway, and that's nice. Overall, I think the cons outweigh the pros and it's just a dirty area in general. Other people may have differing opinions.
Soma is a waste land. I don’t get why so many people like living there, when for the same price you can get a nice place in pacheights
