Hi What are the best companies for infra roles? I don’t particularly enjoy being a SWE feature developer and I always gravitate towards infra tasks, so I might as well just go for a full infra role, some sort of SRE/PE where I can also use my programming skills. I have interests in Linux, distributed systems and their scalability, cloud, networking, low level programming. Looking for a company who would be comfortable in giving a 350k+ TC, assuming they like my skills of course. Thanks!
GCP, AWS, Azure -> Revenue generator is infra.
FAANG, Microsoft, Nutanix, Databricks, Dremio, Airbnb, Portworx, Robin , Twitter, Spotify, come to mind (but choose the infra systems teams)
Rubrik, Cohesity —> will be going IPO in a year or two
Databricks has scale challenges that FB and Google had when they were in hyper growth mode. If you enjoy that, apply to platform roles at Databricks.
Noob question: what’s the most popular language for infra work? cpp? Go? Java?
Facebook Amazon Google
Fb has all of the above; I’m on an infra team and love the work I do. What’s your level/YOE? $350k for an E5 is common at fb
No level, I have always been in startups. 9yoe.
If you interview/perform at the level of an E5 then $350k TC is realistic
