Feels like top-tier new grads are just shuttled into fb/google. Are there any comparable or better places to start out at? In terms of experience, career, salary etc. Followup: anyone wanna hire me? Past Amazon intern, please PM if so.
Uber, MS, Apple, Palantir. Amazon isnt a top tier but it is very good place to get experience.
Picked Amazon over MS, and would easily pick it over Apple and Palantir if I even bothered to apply.
I would definitely pick most startups over Uber. But yeah fb >>> all imo
It can be split into 3 groups from what I've seen among top new grads. 1) megacorp fan Google/fb
Uber, Apple, Palantir, Amazon, LinkedIn
Also palantir hasn't been hot for new grads for a couple of years now, same is true with Uber this year.
Whats wrong with palantir for new grads? Ive met many engineers there who had come over from goog/ms and amzn.
I think it's considered less sexy. Not consumer-facing, not a name the average joe would recognize, and it's not even clear to most people what they work on outside of the govt stuff which always comes with heavy suspicion.
using the word "sexy" for business purposes had always sounded so wrong and bastardized.
Palantir also doesn't pay particularly well
Example pay? I never got a clear answer out of anyone there
New grad is 120k base with 100k/yr equity. Doesn't scale as high as other companies though.
Apple is not particularly good for new grads but more for Senior engineers or above
Uber. 20% growth at FB or G vs 200% growth at Uber.
I wonder what is your sample size ;)
