With Amazon being in the recent news as what Seattle City Council wants to 'Go After' for money to address the homeless situation, I wanted to see what everyone's opinion is on this subject matter?
They should go after Amazon.
They should go after Seattle city council. This morons have unbelievable amount of money from businesses and cannot distribute them for years
The city council caved to Amazon https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/about-face-seattle-city-council-repeals-head-tax-amid-pressure-from-big-businesses/ We need to build some guillotines to put some fear back into politicians and business.
And start by shipping Sawant back to India.
I think she was the only one who opposed the city council backing down from Amazon pressure. She can stay. SF gave how much - 20 million - in tax breaks to salesforce for the ugly tower? we need to cut these welfare queens off.
If the city council provided transparency on their spending, would you endorse a head tax? I keep thinking that if the council, and specifically Sawant, promoted this tax differently then maybe it would have gone through more smoothly and everybody would be happier about it? She always employs these confrontational, sensational grassroot tactics. She makes Amazon and other big corporations the villains/culprits of the homeless issue while ignoring the fact that Seattle also needs them to be here anyways and there are also many improvements that the big corporations brought about because they are here. Instead of accusing and bullying to take money from them, why not work with them and implement policies mandates that, for example, every big company must spend X amount of dollars in projects that addresses homelessness with accountability. And by doing so you have some small incentives from the city etc. Her tactics is - I think you are at fault, I am going to take your money because I can. :p Also, why aren't our city council members implementing other measures like, rent control, tax on foreign purchases of real-estate properties etc like the other cities are doing instead to combat ever rising rent and property prices? Or, put a larger tax on proper sales. If you want to prevent people from swooping up property, and you need funds, go to the source that's causing the problem. I know they have been increasing the property taxes for everyone, but that also affect the low income property owners, so, put the tax on the transaction?
Won't work. With transparency you cannot explain how can you already have $30k annually per known homeless, need more taxes and get support from people, all at the same time.
Is that a known figure? What's the datatsource? And is it per year?
Yeah... Hitler was actually an innocent hero who wanted his motherland to recover after WW1. It's all his uninformed constituents to blame.
Take a look at this https://www.socialistalternative.org/2018/07/02/amazon-tax-betrayal/
Get out of here with your socialist nonsense.
