Billionaire's Camp! Merger and Acquisition Predictions!

What do you think will go down this time with most of our Billionaire CEOs going to camp together in Idaho? Articles are saying that CBS and Viacom will come together? Any truth to this? I know there's been a lot of ideal merger and acquisition questions on Blind, so I thought I'd ask, who should separate and go their separate ways?

I believe Netflix will possibly move in to purchase Paramount, at the very least. Viacom needs a ๐Ÿค soon.

Nah, Netflix needs nobody. Netflix may buy valuable IPs when some companies go under. But there is no way Netflix wants to inherit any legacy business.

You're correct, Netflix has no need for legacy studio operations, just hoards of legacy talent imbued with a fair amount of self interest.

Paramount has vast library of well known titles people love and watch repeatedly.

Breakfast At Tiffany's and the Godfather series. The Indiana Jones series, Braveheart, Beverly Hills Cop and Shrek.

As we all know, well known, recognizable content is fleeing your platform.

Do you believe the constant barrage of poorly produced episodic "internet" shows will win over consumers once legacy titles and tent poles are available as OTT subscriptions?

Netflix was the ONLY option for so long. I just dont see it panning out without recognizable, imaginative nostalgia for what we all know and love. A good story.

What's recognizable content? Marvel heros like Daredevil must be one. Netflix cancelled all Marvel series after Umbrella Academy outperformed Daredevil. Franchise is overrated when you can create them. We may not mind a Snow White remade movie once every decade, try that for a series and see if you can get any adult audience.

And you must be kidding when Hulu and Amazon exist for as long as Netflix streaming does, arguably with more financial resources to operate in early years. Today Netflix has 10X content budget of Disney+. Game over.
