Buy townhome in Seattle.

I'm moving to Washington. I'm planning to buy a townhouse in a decent neighborhood. Based on my current salary and requirements. Can someone recommend housing locations that can match my requirement. base salary 146000 (not including RSUs here as I don't want to sell them) Townhome in the range of 300k-400k Work location: Bellevue commute time: ~ 30 mins Single income, married, no kids Wife planning to do masters this year Balance in my savings account $23000 Am I looking in the right range based on my salary ? If so, what would be some decent neighborhoods to find a townhouse within that range ? Recommendations will be greatly appreciated 😊

There are many townhomes within that range, depends on how many rooms you need. You might be able to get a good 3 bedroom townhome for that range in bothell

Are there even townhomes in that price range in Bellevue?

I'm looking in the neighborhood of Bellevue with commute time of ~30 mins

30 min is how long it'll take to cross bellevue lol

You can maybe find a condo for that price range, but for a townhouse you’re looking at 800k+

Even if I go bit far from Bellevue with commute time of 45 mins

For a decent 400k home you probably would need to look in a place like Everett which is like 40 minutes away without traffic.

Look at shitholes like Bothell or Mill Creek.

Lol how are those shitholes?

Did you buy a house in Bothell and just figured out that you own a non resellable asset?

You should wait and rent. You don’t have enough savings.

Don't do it. I compromised on location to buy a townhome and think I made the wrong choice. I'm debating renting it out.

Amazon tenders Jan 10, 2019

All the townhomes I’m looking to buy are around 1M 15 minutes commute to Seattle downtown

Amazon Amznnn Jan 10, 2019

You should wait for sure. Not enough saved. Prices will normalize a bit more this year. Condo prices will be first to fall.

You don’t have enough savings. Also 400k will get you maybe an older apartment in the Bellevue neighborhood, likely not even that. Would be good to rent and build capital, home ownership has hidden costs
