I’ve been left my whole life. Lived in Europe for a while and didn’t mind the high tax rate bc I felt like the community was getting back a lot in return. Can someone explain why California is a model for left-wing policies? Why should I be ok spending 30% on taxes when healthcare is shit for most, homelessness is rampant, public education is a disaster, etc. One counter argument is that Bay Area undermines its own liberal policies by giving corporations huge tax breaks. Meanwhile Spotify is leaving bc shit is so bad.. Also I could never say I’m right either - we need more parties that represent a broader range of diverse ideologies.
We pay a lot of taxes and government still has no money.
Neocon Liberalism
Checked. Federal government gave CA 368 million tax money in 2015. Roughly 95k each person. Wait till federal government get fed up with CA and freeze the fund, then we will see if the game that the liberals play is sustainable.
So move?
Prop 13 and other such policies effectively shifts the burden of funding CA on to you. Old people in CA are entitled moochers.
If they didn't give them tax breaks, they wouldn't be there.
Compared to other states, both healthcare and education are great. Moved to CA for these two.
Someone's high af
It's the model because once you see 60-80% of the US you'll go running back.
Move here to IN Healthcare is shit Public schools are shit Homelessness is NOT rampant (many freeze to death every winter) Federal, state & local taxes here exceed. 30% though. We also have School District tax in Indianapolis and none of that pesky Prop 13 to limit property taxes. But you’ll love it here. We’ve got God, guns and bigger guns.
