Planning to leave FB for Google soon. Currently on H1B, can I take 2 weeks off between leaving FB and joining Google ? Will that affect my 60 days (laid off/fired) grace period in the future, i.e. if I take 2 weeks off will I be left with 46 days of grace period to use in the future?
60 is not valid if you quit your job. This question is already asked many times here search for it.
You mean I can’t take a break ? 😮
I don't think you can be without a payroll on H1B. It may come up *when* you are up for renewal, I-140 or GC.
Why don't you take a break with your current employer, then give notice?
Wait until your visa is completely transferred, then you should be fine. Don’t do it while it’s in transition. Talk to googles immigration team to make sure your case isn’t going to be screwed though.
60 day grace period is for Visa validation period. If facebook's Visa is till 2020 then 60days grace period and for your new Visa with Google you will get one more grace period of 60 days. Also please verify this info with attorney.
This is correct!
check with Murthy or any other law firm
You can. Ask google attorney. Not fb, google. Bloomberg allowed me to take 2 to 3 weeks. They said it's ok and they can adjust start date of new H1B. I have friends joining google who took 2+ weeks off. Just talk to attorney and immigration HR handling your h1b petition
Thanks man, really appreciate
Can you take unpaid leave instead?
