Editing this because someone mentioned I didn't add a category for above average iq. At first I thought it was the right thing to do but I thought about it again and decided to repost it. No one answers my question directly so I figure a poll would be better. Can a guy with an average iq pass the interviews with studying. Prestigious companies are the big 3 (google, Facebook, Microsoft.), apple, Airbnb, Dropbox, and similar companies, LinkedIn, maybe some more that I missed.
I work with people with IQ and EQ well below the norm, and they are in mid to senior positions.
What does IQ have to do with it? Do you have the experience? Do you fit the qualifications? Don’t let yourself be held back by a number, the worst that happens is you score an interview and they pass. Either way you get experience with interviewing at a top company. I have no idea what my IQ is and I don’t really care
I'm talking specifically about once you get the interview.
I'm super dumb and have worked at tech companies all my life
I honestly feel like you’re mentally unstable or trolling at this point.
Lol okay. Cry some more about "muh feelings are hurt because someone talks about prestige"
Or maybe just too much obsessed with IQ and prestige. Such people might come across as mentally unstable while they are able to function well in other aspects of life.
Why does this troll thread keep haunting us all
90 IQ means you would spent way more time on leetcode, but its possibile
Really? A person with 90 can get in? Do you know any?
Look around. I'd be shocked if a majority of the people here had much of an IQ. They're just good at one particular thing and passed hiring committee. Intelligence is not abundant, believe me.
Just curious. How did you measure your IQ? did you try different tests? What were the results? Did numbers change over time?
I went to a psychologist before I moved to Deattle.
The results were 126 FSIQ but 105 PRI. FSIQ is the iq that i would tell people if they asked "What is your iq?" but PRI which is abstract reasoning ability (hence the main thing used in coding interviews) is part of FSIQ.
I fucking hate this "prestigious company" term . Seriously guys, why does everyone acts like a fucking 5 year old. Different companies work for different kind of individuals. Why do people encourage these few companies which are well known. I have interviewed at all of them and have gotten offers from most of them and work in one of them. During my interviews i have met with assholes and / or overworked and / or unsatisfied peop
Every company has problems. It's wrong to say that these companies don't deserve the pedestal their put on because they have a few. It's even more erroneous to say that it's wrong to aspire to these companies. You're the 20th person to say "hey I worked there nbd guys" and it's getting old. As I told the others, it's easy to say it's not worth getting there once you have already worked there. If I had the opportunity to work there, I wouldn't feel suicidal anymore. Maybe others wouldn't care. Everyone has different priorities. And by the way it's not everyone. Apparently on blind I'm the only one who cares about prestige, although the pms I get and the people I went to school with would disprove that, heavily. But what do I know?
So apple airbnb Dropbox are your prestigious big 3 ? No comment about how your question now makes a lot of sense.
that is such a random selection
No big 3 is Google FB MSFT. Airbnb and Dropbox are separate category.
