Can't solve LC hard within 60 minutes

YOE 8 TC way too low I tried several LC hards and I solved some of them; but it took me definitely more than an hour. Some problems took me days to solve, not literally, I just started one and couldn't solve it and then had like an aha-moment next day, got back to it and solved it. I have a Netflix onsite coming up in just a few weeks and I'm not sure how I'll be able to perform well on the algo and data structures part.

Leetcode hard for Netflix? ๐Ÿฟ

Luck and way more than a few weeks of LC. Most people don't pass first try regardless, so you're already there with reasonable expectations. If you need a new job soon, then cast your net wider and keep reapplying every however long their recruitment cycle is

Keep practicing. Also do mediums and easy as well

not worth spending too much time on hards tbh. itโ€™s a trade-off. better to crush a ton of mediums and then skim most hards

Daimler Holox OP Oct 13, 2018

Oh I see... Did you have only easy and medium problems at your FB onsite?

Facebook ctcisux Oct 13, 2018

almost all mediums. Iโ€™m not saying Iโ€™ve never gotten hards interviewing, but usually in those cases the interviewer gives more hints and is more lax

Microsoft ๐Ÿ—ฝNY Oct 13, 2018

Hard question is asked only in rare occasion during the interviews. If you can write bug free medium and easy code fast, you should be be to clear most of the interviews.

Also, talk to your recruiter if you think you may need more time. Interviews can be pushed back.

TC?

That is completely normal, if you can solve any hards then you are already above average. Focus on medium problems, solve those reliably under 25-30 min and you're good. Hard problems are too hard to ask someone in an interview, they take too long and typically rely on the candidate having a key insight. Easy problems are good for building confidence, I like to solve them in under 5 min and occasionally someone will try to ask a easy problem if there is 10-15 minutes left in an interview.

Iโ€™ve heard of people being asked hards on phone screens

You are doomed.

Expedia ยฃโ‚ฌ Oct 13, 2018

If you can solve medium in less than 25 or 30 mins then you are good. Practice more hard problems to solve in 40 - 45 mins.
