I have been working as an ETL developer being an expert in integration tool informatica. I am also very good in SQL and databases like teradata and Oracle. How do u see future in this area.
what is ETL developer? isn’t it just an synonym of data engineer? If so then there you go, they are everywhere in major tech companies. Different tech stack, same sh.. stuffs. try apply. start from Amazon, then use the offer to leverage for bigger tc.
It's basically a data engineer that uses a tool (Informatica, DataStage, Snaplogic, etc) instead of hand-coding in Python, Spark, et al. OP, the easy transition since you already think in data movement terms is to become a data engineer and reduce the dependency on the tool for doing the ETL.
Don't think I am that smart to get in fang. Do u suggest any other baby steps
Amazon rejected me after 5 rounds of interview. They were fine with my tech skills but those case scenarios I told were not good enough for them. I cannot do much if my current job isn't challenging enough
I’m in your space, although more on the analytics front. I think ETL and other tools will die. Re skill yourself in Apache spark instead
Make yourself learn big data tech stack ... along with a domain
I have learned Python and currently working on learning Machine learning. I also tried to learn AWS but since I am not using it at my job, I keep forgetting. Also, it's difficult to find a job in these technologies as I don't have actual work experience in these technologies
Try to get into fang .. they only go with aptitude
