What is best use of ultimate rewards points to fly to India? Specially during peak times like December? Anyone found a better use of points that will yield > 1.5 cents per point?
For international travel in December, most award tickets would be gone at this point. I'm not sure how much better you'll do than 1.5cpm.
For non-peak dates, how to get most values? Any idea?
Try waking up a month later.
You’ll have to transfer points to a partner airline. Maybe emirates or Singapore? Haven’t checked in a while.
Emirates for Chase UR? Are you sure?
Emirates is now a transfer partner. Aren't they?
Fly to China and transfer
/r/churning. You're probably better off using Hopper app
There’s usually plenty of last minute business class flights around the winter holidays that well get you 2-3c per point when transferred to United. That’s if you value flying business vs. just using the fewest points possible for a redemption. For economy, maybe you’ll find some Air China flights with United but it’s probably too late for that. I personally find the international flight prices pretty inflated in the Chase portal, sometimes 30-40% more for the same option on SkyScanner. The Points Guy has some great posts on maximizing UR points.
Find your route: https://www.awardhacker.com Open an account with all of those airlines that fly the route and also accept UR. Find out the cost using their miles and calculate if it’s worth it. Also be careful of transfer increments and time to transfer. You can also piece a ticket together. Through one ways, as all award travel is on a one-way basis (no savings from round trip). Holiday travel will be hard to find good rates. I’m up in the north bay so I was able to do Santa Rosa to LAX using Marriott points transferred to Alaska, then LAX to PPT using Amex points transferred to Qantas.
Thanks. Helpful site
Those dates no.
Not asking for this particular December. In general how to use those points wisely?
You two step sisters?
