Who knows if the Trump adminstration is aware of all the good and bad outcomes of the China trade war. To list a few outcomes of the trade war option: - cost of many things for Americans will go up - many of our allies will take China's side - Farming, Automotive, and Tech sectors will take a hit - many Chinese companies are pulling out of the US - real estate and Investment impact Anyway, love to know if you are pro trade war or pro trade piece with China (and more importantly why)!
Let the war not begin until I diversify and lay out an solid investment plan ! :P
Bad, their economy will dwarf ours in two decades. They will return this favor by squeezing us out of Latin America, Middle East, and Africa. China’s economic and military power in the coming years will make us look their Canada to our United States. We should be on good political/trading terms with the rising powers, not the fading ones.
Why do you think there are economy will dwarf the US is? I hear that notion thrown out a lot but honestly when you dig into it it’s not likely their economy will ever surpass the US. if they actually transition to a democracy all bets are off and they might actually become a world superpower
They have backdoor access to the the fastest growing economic regions in the market and a wealth of natural resources domestic and foreign. Massive human capital and 50+ year record of political leadership that has consistently steered the company towards ever greater prosperity. Democracy hasn’t been a factor in growth for over half century, why is crucial now? While we sink money into fruitless wars they are wholesale buying out the countries we are invading on the war ravaged discount aisle.
Good because the currency has been artificially deflated for years to make sure they are still at an advantage as a manufacturing superpower. The hit on the avg consumer isn’t as big as others have orig thought. Just hope it won’t last too long though.
Trump has the right concerns, I just wish he enlisted the help of allies instead of taking everyone on at once.
The problem is we don’t have Ally’s, the US is so much more dominant and powerful than all the rest are relationship is more like clients. Bottom line is no one has the means or ability to stand up to China so frankly there is no help to be had. They will follow along in our draft though
Ultimately it's bad. It'll take decades for local businesses to replace them, and by that time China would be in a much better position. If Trumps proceeds cutting ties with our major economic partners, we'll have to absorb the production deficit. Sure, you'll essentially force local production and more jobs, but they'll be of the lowest salary and the resulting product more expensive, plus you'll be wasting workforce in something you could've just bought. You need to invest in the right areas, not compete where you are sure to lose ... It should be common sense.
Why do you think it’ll take decades? Lots of factories have already left the vast majority of shit that’s manufactured over there is a pretty simple commodities
Fuck China even tho it hurts us.
Protectionism is bad, Trump will lose election if he keeps it up.
He will lose anyways
The pendulum is swinging away from globalization all around the world. If you’re paying attention and you’ll notice Elizabeth Warren just rolled out a massively protectionist economic plan LOL. Whoever wins the next election will be a protectionist
Bad for both countries. China need to comply to whatever they promised when they joined WTO, start free trading. USA should also realize that the rise of China is inevitable, and we should embrace it instead of starting another cold war.
Free trading is just a slogan. Just take a look at what both sides are doing. China blocks google from entering China and US blocks Huawei. When free trading is good for US, US would advocate free trade. If protectionism is good for US, it would abandon free trade immediately. Both countries have its own interests. Sometimes they overlaps, sometimes they conflicts. China and US have been tided together so closely so there is no ground for the next Cold War. I expect a long-term competition between two countries, but not a Cold War. China is not Soviet Union.
While Trump is playing reindeer games Jinpeng is cleaning out Africa and Asia. Latin America is next on his list and then voila! New hegemonic super power!
And it is already happening to some degree. US based companies had to "lobby' super hard to make Latin American governments put restrictions on Chinese devices that were already eating away all the telecom.
China is hated by all Asian counties. Pretty sure they will follow US over China anyday.
We have let China do whatever they want for too long
Any examples?
You don't "let" someone peacefully produce and sell products. The only thing you "let" is you let yourselves become fat and useless at production. And now you will hurt your own people to try and whip them into shape :~D
