Currently going through team matching for Citadel SWE summer. What are some factors to take into account when deciding between teams on the hf vs securities side (ex options market making tech on the securities side, versus a fixed income tech or electronic trading team on the hf side). Do engineers develop different skills on different sides of the company? My main goal is to work on a team I would be comfortable going back to for FT that would help me develop a broadly applicable tech skill set (rather than something very specific to HFT like working with incredibly low latency systems), in the case that I want to return to big N later in my career.
Try to get in contact and chat with multiple people on the same team. What you're told before you join may not be the same as what you will encounter after you're fully enlisted.
Go with Citadel Securities.
Why?
If you ask this question to people who know, you’ll get two answers: 1. Definitely citadel securities it’s way better, especially for tech. 2. It depends on what you’re interested in.
Citadel hedge fund not worth it. Go with securities
