Trying again : got no response last time. 1) How bad is the WLB ? For a new senior tech hire ? 2) How bad is the job security ? How much ramp up time is given to new employees ? Is it too bad to be on H1b? 3) How does the 3 year vesting work ?
What's the 3 year vesting about? Sign on?
WLB is pretty bad, 12 hour days are common. Not to mention you're highly monitored and can barely access the internet depending on which team you're on
How about job security ? Too risky on H1b ? Do they have PIPs etc / directly fire without warning ?
Below average job security, but kind of depends on which team you're on. They will fire poor performers and let go of entire teams sometimes
WLB depends on the team and project really. I would rate it average or slightly below average. You are expected to be on-call at all times( this also varies from team to team). As any company as you prove your worth and show some ‘impact’ things ease. It is slightly risky on h1b but devs are usually let go on bad performance mostly. The dev role is less volatile than the other business facing one. Less risk less reward. They usually enforce some non compete so think about h1b repercussions of that They fire without warning. You need to give more information on ‘what the 3 year vesting’ means in your context. Will be happy to explain how that works once I know what comp structure it is
Could you explain what “invested membership interest” is? Some percentage of the bonus is invested in a fund that citadel manages, right? Are there other comp setups?
How will non compete work with H1b - does one need to find a non-financial entity for the next job ? How long is the non-compete time ?
agree with above. non-compete + firing + bad wlb
Does Citadel pay severance for fired people ? Does Citadel pay for the non-compete arrangement ?
Yes yes
Do a lot of people get fired in the first year ? Or later usually ? Any pattern around firings - PIPs etc ?
Depends. Hard to predict
I mean - in your prior knowledge . Someone you know who got fired - they had been in Citadel for some time ?
Any other company in Chicago pay similar to citadel for SWE?
How does the non-compete relate to “garden leave” ? Are they two different things ?
If you are not working because you are waiting out your non-compete (probably getting paid base salary to do nothing), it's called "garden leave"
Can someone on H1b be on garden leave ?
Wlb is notorious for being harder than tech companies. how difficult was the interview/algorithms?
Interviews not done yet. Wonder if WLB will be harder than FB/AMZN ?
