Hi, i consider signing up for a coding bootcamp for 6 month at Columbia. I have over 10years experience in finance in part. business and asset valuations , financial DD etc. The curriculum of the bootcamp seems quite appealing: Financial Programming (Python, Pandas etc), Machine Learning Applications in Finance (Algo Trading, etc.) https://bootcamp.cvn.columbia.edu/fintech/ Does anyone have experience with it? To all the programmers or data scientists out there.. do you think its worth it? ... Its 11k. And last but not least what do major tech players think about these bootcamps and would they consider inviting me to interviews with this type of background. Thanks
“Powered by Trilogy Education Services, a 2U, Inc. brand.” Who are they?
You might as well go for Cornell Tech in NY for a one-year master if u want to spend this much $$.
"11k for a one-time summer course is not luxurious enough, so it‘s better to spend 60k/year"
A fulltime tech MBA program sounds a bit too much financially. And also not sure if it pays off.
Thats the provider of the bootcamp. They provide the instructors. Columbia collaborates with them and is in curriculum prep and approval.
Columbia's masters programs are a cash cow for the university. Take a look at udacity, datacamp, udemy, coursera etc. Only do this if you think you have no self discipline. Even then, people are gonna hire you for what you've learnt, not just the bootcamp credential
Another Trilogy Education Services packaged garbage. They are the next ITT tech which leverages University extension school brands to give you a garbage education. The only thing that is guaranteed is you’ll stay jobless after you’re done. Do yourself a favor and stay away.
There are online courses that will teach you all that for much cheaper.
Thanks. I assume your response implies that its not worth it at all?! Any insights how tech firms view these bootcamps?
