I'm likely to get an offer for a pretty senior technical position in one of their research units. Can't go into specifics about location or the technical field, as that would pretty much disclose me. 15 YoE, quite a bit of expertise in a certain reasonably sexy field. I guess the closest thing I can think of without disclosing everything would be a computer vision researcher. I'm currently with a pretty big company, the pay is decent - not FAANG level, but quite fine. So, what shall I expect? What kind of perks can I extract from them? Bonuses? RSU? How much?
Ask Harry Markopolos.
My previous job before Facebook (hence the “New”) was a startup in the car space. In my experience, every car company except Tesla has hilariously bad software. Your team may be different, but I would definitely find out for sure if I were you.
This is a research position, so it could be different...at least that's what I'm trying to figure out.

Umm TC will be no where comparable to FANG. The only perk you could get depending on your level is company car with the caveat that you have to buy or lease a 2nd GM car every 4 yrs. Other than that the only monetary comp you will get is salary + yearly bonus. No RSUs for any level apart from execs maybe. It is a good company if you value large number of holidays and solid vacation package , also their 401k match is quite good
Btw do let us know what package and level they offered you. Last I checked a level 8 was what got you a company car
Approximate TC/Level?
“How bad is GM?” They don’t want you either.
Thank you, this is very helpful. For others who may be reading this - obviously, I'm interested in the position they are offering. However, blind isn't exactly sympathetic to them. Hence the question.
Try having more positivity first. They aren’t THAT bad or you would not have applied there. Stop trying to justify it to yourself.
