Hello, I have an offer to work at Apple as a machine learning engineer in the Bay area and I'm considering taking it. I will be moving from a small ML firm on the East coast with a similar base pay but no stocks/RSU. Would appreciate some insights and opinions to help make a final decision. Thank you.
As an engineer you'll be fine. Just don't buy in the short term. Chalk it up to experience.
I wouldn't bank on the Apple stock options being worth much in the next 4 years. Go for RSU's if you have the option.
The offer includes RSUs.
Good. At least it will be worth something after it vests natter what the price is.
Great time to join apple. It's just in the middle of the market pull back without good reason. Join now and see your stock zoom up. I can't think of any other company with this much brand equity. If you were gunning for some crappy startup, with only paper money to show for it, life in the bay can become tough.
Bay is absolute shit. Avoid.
I agree. @OP, they have some ML presence in Seattle. See if you can keep that TC and be based in Seattle.
If you love heroine overdoses, human poop, and tent villages then SF is your DREAM CITY!
Where are you now? whats your current TC?
Take it. Apple has a high probability to be a $2xtrillion company probably 10 years from now.
If they intro a lower priced phone for the emerging markets, we could be talking about 2-3 years. Once you become an apple convert, no going back.
You’re can’t build a trillion dollar business in 2-3 years. At least 10. Android has improved a lot and has a much better camera now.
Having lived in Seattle, SF and NYC, SF is still my favorite. Ignore these bozos who apparently never left SOMA, FiDi, the Mission and the Tenderloin while living in SF. Afaik, Cupertino is quite clean, quiet, wealthy and lacking in homeless people. I'd prefer living in SF, but can see why some would prefer Cupertino.
Not sure why you're concerned. People like you are supposed to move here.
TC ???
400k
with that TC fuck yeah
