Considering a contract position at an Apple affiliated company. How often do roles like these lead to working internally?

I converted from contract to FT last year. Tier 1 vendors have an agreement in place that prohibits hiring within a year, but I worked with a tier 2. It was mutually discussed and agreed by both sides that we wanted FT.

What is the difference between tiered vendors? Is there an external list somewhere? Does tier 3 exist?

Not sure how they are defined, tier 1 would be preferred I suppose.

It simply depends on whether the org has any open reqs or not. It’s hard to find good people. Really, really hard. If you’re good and want in, most will happily convert you rather than initiate or continue a multi months long process of interviewing a bunch of mediocre people, wasting their engineers time.

I’m currently a contractor, it’s basically no chance of being converted. The positions they hire contractors for are meant to always be contract positions. But the work is interesting and the name on my resume has really helped.

That’ll depend on the hiring manager.

A friend of mine started as a contractor at Apple in a software engineering role. Got converted to FT after a year.

Definitely happens. Depends on the org and if they have open req slots.

From my understanding, it does not happen often. Friend was a contractor for a year at Apple, did not convert to full time when her contract expired. She got stellar reviews throughout her time there.
