Interviewing for a Contractor role with a large tech company. Would involve a fair amount of travel and OT. Does a Contract role topically cover travel time? Also is OT typically paid at 1.5x like a FT Hourly employee is paid?
OT no, travel time yes/maybe. That's your time they're using so either its chargeable or you need to increase your hourly rate to accommodate for a % of travel.
It's been a while since I did contract work but maybe this will help. I wouldn't expect OT. Your rate should take that into account. Travel may be 1/2 your hourly rate. A blended rate that covers travel expenses is typical. In the end, its whatever you can negotiate and what the client will pay.
I should have clarified, it will be an hourly contract position, so the expectation is my hours worked are what I'm paid. My question was, would hours over 40 hours a week be paid as 1.5x, or just at the regular rate. Also, should time splent flying to another office be paid as well
