What’s the policy for flights in google? I just got in and am expected to fly 30 hours for my orientation in MTV, but CWT (the travel agent) is booking cattle class. Not to be a brat but I even personally fly premium economy long haul. I’m L5 if that matters. CWT suggested I get approval from my manager if I want an upgrade, but feel awkward about that being my first request. Premium economy and business are both below GOOG cap from the sheet I got from them during relo. Can I pay the difference between their option and premium eco out of pocket, which obv won’t be the first choice for me
Woah that sounds crappy. Fb is 4.5k miles
I never fly business. Carbon footprint to high. Think of others before you book a bigger seat.
The plane will take the same amount of fuel regardless of which seat you're in
You’re not thinking green enough. If you stop the demand the seats go away.
Apple is always business for international travel
Don't use cwt. Just book yourself and as long as it's under cap in go/trips it's not a problem if you book business class. I travel for 70% of my time and always have done this with multiple managers. I never received any questions.
Thanks! Didn’t know booking on my own was an option. That would also help me with my cc points haha. So I just tell them I’ll book the flight myself? Can I still get them to book the hotel? Sorry new to this.
I always book myself for flights, hotel etc.. Just keep it under cap.. If it's over cap you can pay the difference.. I never had any issues.
Get manager approval, your org will have a travel budget of $X per headcount. Typically, management wants employees to use their fair share.
Thanks for that. I’ll probably let this one slide. Perhaps next time.
A poor L5 and you want business class? No way.
Nope I’ll be happy with premium economy haha
I’m sure you can pay for the upgrade yourself. Just talk to the airline directly.
