I bought an old rambler back when economy was in the shitter. Got a great deal on it and have almost paid it off A lot at inn of people are updating/renovating their properties in my neighborhood and I am curious as well. Anyone know the cost of tear down and building a new home, vs building on top of an existing one. Please share your experiences Edit: this is in Bellevue area. Not the affluent area TC bout two fiddy
According to my insurance the cost of construction is currently around 140-150$/sqft for a decent quality home. It can go above or below that based on the options your choose
That is way too low, at least for the Seattle area. It's more like $400-$600/SF.
Not sure what you mean by "way low". The cost of construction of the house would be close to the cost of living in the place. If you include the value of the land then yes it will be more. But OP said he already has land and he wanted to construct a new house on it.
Which neighborhood.
