What is the path to become data scientist for a 10yoe engineer
Thanks, how many years would it take
If you believe the boot camp mantra, it's more like how many weeks will it take. Estimate about twelve
12 weeks for 12 productive hours a day and you can be a jr on a real data science team. Or lead at a place that doesn't know what it's doing and has SWEs doing data engineering with a minor amount of analytics under the name data science
Linear algebra, statistics....if you don’t get discouraged after that, then focus on Python.
Don’t do it. Eng pays better
False, with offer to prove it. Some eng roles pay better than some data roles and vice versa, depends on the role, company, person
Yea obviously I’m not saying you can’t find cases where ds gets paid more lol. The avg eng gets paid more than the avg ds though
DhausiT and Rightmeow, Could you please share some compensation numbers to help us understand better what averages and special cases look like?
Statistics, statistics and lots of statistics. Assuming you are well versed with more mechanical part—Python, SQL etc
