Does anyone work or has worked at Databricks? What is the culture like?

I interviewed there. Was highly unimpressed. People seemed very smart but with no emotional awareness. That showed during the interview process (eg a week went by after my interview with zero communication). If you want super smart people and don't care about the rest, could be fine. For me, it didn't seem like a fun place.

Team/role/location? It can be a bit skewed on IQ/EQ with some interviewers/teams, but overall most people are reasonable and figure things out.

I got the skyline problem in my interview. I gave a suboptimal min heap based solution which was not what the interviewer had in his mind. He kept saying there is something missing in the solution but could not say what was missing. Felt like he memorized something out of EPI just before the interview without thinking of all the angles. #notimpressed

Skyline problem can be solved without heap?

I interviewed there and thought that the people were pretty cool actually. They gave me the impression that they were a bunch of super smart yet humble people working together to achieve a common goal. So pretty different than FAANG employees, where the culture might be well established but they don't really give you the impression that they feel productive / actually contributing to something great.

Culture is below average. Recently had a culture survey that was non-anonymous and some people were brave enough to answer and then they said they would release the results and ended up not doing it. Definitely not inclusive.

They showed the results at all-hands, but some stuff was ignored still

Can you elaborate? Are the issues across all BUs? Looking to join their Sales org. which appears t to be pretty diverse. Any input would help. What is the San Fran workplace environment like. Any idea how many employees in the Bay Area versus remote?
