Yeah, awesome company. The tech is best in class for their market. But don’t know how they treat their people.
Every company uses spark to some degree. Like the guy above said you will have ur pickings of companies when you decide to leave. Curious is this for SWE? And are you from Berkeley?
Got offer for SWE intern, wondering about return offer. Not from Berkeley.
It's a great company that treats its people very well. I was a little surprised to see people loving on DB so much because in other blind topics people weren't as positive. But regardless, the people are very sharp, albeit at times a bit too academic. Spark is awesome tech on its own, but focusing on AI too is also a smart decision.
I remember the exact thread you're referring to. I mean the DB team had the sorting record at one point in the very recent past. Yet people were digging for any reason to discredit DB in that thread.
Super smart people
Is HBO your prior internship ? Also would you be frontend or backend or ML? Which role?
Yes. I preferenced backend and ML. Team and project will be known about a month before start date.
Their new grad tc is not competitive relative to fb/g but lots of smart people and high hiring bar
New grad offers were 115k base and 18000 options for 2018. No bonus/espp/401k match. Perhaps there is an adjustment for 2019 though and they are going to start offering RSUs instead of options so 2019 will be different numbers. Most likely the number of shares will be lower if it becomes RSUs.
Thanks for the numbers. Do you know the strike price?
Last number was $3.89 or something like that, but will go up soon.
Hey OP can you please tell about Databricks system design? Was it a traditional system design question or some concurrency problem?
You will be working with literal geniuses so yes. Ignore TC for now. After 12-24 months at Databricks, you'll be primed to work pretty much anywhere you want.
