Received two offers - Amazon SDE I and Google L3. Google's is 40k better. However, for Google the offer requires me to relocate, and I can't at this time. The recruiter said that the offer is good for 1 year and that I can reach out when I am able to relocate. Would it be worth it to work at Amazon for 9 months and then move roles to Google when I am able to relocate? Any downsides to this plan? Current TC: 150k YOE: 2
New TC?

No problem
Definitely do it, two FAANGs on your resume.
Do it
Does Google offer remain in place even if you start working at another company? Honestly I would enjoy the time off unless you need the money. Work on personal projects and travel, might even generate some long lasting side income. To be able to have some time to work on things you like is the greatest luxury. Also, you won't learn a ton at Amazon in 9 months, just getting used to their annoying internal tools takes 3-4 months and you will only be ever doing trivial tasks early on. Quite possibly you will end up in a toxic and stressful environment as well.
The offer remains assuming there's headcount when I reach out to the recruiter. 9 months between jobs seems kinda long. And that's a lot of money I could be making.
If you need the money then I guess go ahead. I would definitely take a bit of time off though. You don't get as many opportunities when you are older with family etc.
I still think you should better join Google now and focus on your work.
I would but logistically I can't.. that's why I have to defer it 9 months
You have your answer here. ^
Keep in mind if you leave amazon before s year you have to return the sign on and relocation money
do it no problem
Be careful about the signon bonus, you'll have to return the gross amount. Maybe prorated, still gross
Yes
