I am based in South bay. Recently visited dentist and she suggested root canal and crown for one tooth. My out of pocket expense is coming to $485. This is an In-Network dentist. Is this reasonable? Tc 150K
This is reasonable.
TC?
Considering US healthcare costs, that is a good price. If you compare cost from other countries that will be too much.
For root canal some insurances wont cover 100%. It depends on what insurance you chose. You can try to change at the end of this year. You got lucky. I heard people paying 1100 like that.
I would suggest taking into account other costs as well like consultation (2 or 3 visits) and x rays (peripheral x-rays are $50 and each individual x-ray is $30). The doc took 20 x-rays for me during consultation (zooming in on each tooth) and one peripheral x-ray. It all added up to the cost and insurance covered less than a tenth of that cost. What the insurance states is only the RCT cost and they may not include the other costs, which can shock you at the end. They stated a cost of $300 out of pocket initially. But total treatment costed me much more - $300 RCT + $600ish consultation (3 consultations) + $100ish x-rays + $50 medicines
Which place is this? This is actually a pretty low price
You call this expensive. I paid 5 times that for a real dental surgery. Dentists do real job unlike most of people here. In India this would cost you $50 in an excellent clinic. I bet you’d be earning a fraction of your salary too
I got one here and other in India. The one here costed me more than $1000 and the one in India costed me $60. I don't see any difference until now, not sure about the future.
The difference is in dentist salary, and overall income. In India if you were a foreigner you’d pay full price
The whole healthcare system of US is not friendly imo. It helps you but also sucks the hell out of your pocket.
Very good price
Unfortunately, that’s a pretty good price. I’m assuming this is after insurance.
Yea, after insurance
