Talk to someone ASAP. These things can be fixed with medication. It ain’t your fault. It’s in your dna

You're fucking ignorant if you think antidepressants are not bad or habit-forming. Do a simple Google search for what happens when people stop taking them - anxiety, agitation, return of depression and mood swings, flu-like symptoms, irritability, aggression, insomnia, nightmares, restlessness, etc. Show me one commercial where the voice-over guy says a shorter list of side effects than the symptoms being treated. Yeah there's a reason why doctors prescribe meds... mainstream doctors are a part of the pharmaceutical ecosystem. They get paid by big pharma companies to prescribe meds, especially in America. Other than for physiological diseases meds are not "life-saving". This is the ignorant and twisted view of a lot of Americans. Mental health issues are a result of society and human interactions. With the highly individualistic, selfish and isolating culture in America and especially in high tech Silicon Valley, no wonder quick fixes are popular without trying to heal from deep inside the psyche.

Medication won’t solve the problem, only hide symptoms. Just don’t go for it, it is a subtle solution.

Yes, Antidepressants have side effects. They can be managed.

The side effect of untreated depression is death. So weigh the options.

FWIW there are OTC Neutraceutical options that are as effective when taken properly.

LOL - when you stop taking antidepressants....

You return to the state of anxiety and depression from before?

You have to be an idiot if you can't understand that it is a return to the previous. Every symptom you list is the shit that was happening before I started a med. Now it only happens about once every few months.

Also, when I started on my mood stabilizer - I stopped alcohol blacking out 5x per week(insomnia/anxiety/depression), smoking weed every day (insomnia), acid every week(depression), adderall to focus(anxiety preventing reading textbooks), driving 100 miles per hour, suicidal thoughts daily, night terrors daily are now 1x per month, aggression and agitation are now manageable but I used to be physical on some occasions.

I've forgotten my meds sometimes - up to an entire week. HOLY S**T does everything return fast and crash like a rogue wave from before. I will hopefully die naturally because of life saving medication.

On second thought - are you speaking from your ass or personal experience of these things? Do you just listen to opinions and TV commercials? Have you ever asked if a family member has ever taken one? (you'd be surprised!)

3? Amazon is special. It is built on tears of depressed grunts such as OP. Hopefully one day all the noobs will realize the truth and run away from Amazon. The good old days are gone when hard work and performance mattered. Now it is just dirty politics between directors.

Dm me if you want to talk. I can’t promise you that I will solve all your problems but atleast I can listen and you need someone who can listen. For professional help, please see a therapist.

OP: You have two right here and many in this thread who will be willing to listen. Trust me most of us are or were in same boat.

I used to be in similar boat. But ever since I had a daughter I have a real goal on my life and when I feel down I just play with her. Its so affirming to find someone who loves you unconditionally, and really lifts my mood.

Also take a trip somewhere and try to get away from internet for a few days!

Totally. When I was going through a rough time, I took a trip to spend time with my little nephews and it really helped!

No, what OP needs is a consultation with a professional.

Didn't work for me. But sure. Also a professional will be quick to prescribe meds, which I'd personally stay away from.

Turn to eastern spirituality. Not sure about your cultural origin, but Hinduism and Buddhism have some excellent spiritual techniques that would give you a different perspective on the world, you and your interaction with the world. Try to realize your innermost essence that is the same as the universe. Maybe you're not following your deepest vocation, your true path in life. Goals in mundane life are never satisfying because they start and end in the senses and mind which are always changing and owe their existence to the attainment of their sense objects. Senses and mind survive on attachment to the sense objects. Detachment gives you a whole new perspective. You don't have to renounce the world. But you will act with detachment. Like an actor who plays the part, but is detached from the character at the same time, the actor is attached and detached at the same time. A bad actor is incapable of getting attached but a good actor genuinely portrays the character while detaching himself at the end of the day and returning to his own self. Find your deepest self where you are at bliss without any external reason. Once you are centered in your deepest self, then your bliss cannot be disturbed by the outside world. Then you are capable of genuinely engaging with the world without losing yourself in the ups and downs.

Well said. Everyone needs to read this. However, fully internalizing it is another story.

Improve your TC and mental health by leaving Amazon and Seattle , learn to let go when things are not going your way. You have a kid and family, not too many things in life can beat that ! Hang in there.

Try guided meditations or even a meditation class. Learning how to experience those emotions without holding onto them really helped me. I’m in a similar boat so I feel ya... but I try to do something each week that I can look forward to - something that helps bring me into the moment and I can have some relief from those hard feelings. Also it’s a good signal that maybe you can explore who you are again at this time in your life- try different hobbies, classes, learn to play an instrument, travel somewhere amazing, etc... do that thing that you’ve always wanted to do! Like you said, it’s really hard without a goal in life so take time to be curious and explore/reflect on yourself- what is it you want most out of this one crazy, precious life?
