Did (Do) top companies layoff during recession?

What was the case in 2008? Did Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon layoff employees and how big was it?

Yes there were but don’t recall the magnitude. Bigger issues were the large amounts of hiring freezes. Made it tough for people to get jobs after getting laid off or to find new jobs
