Is there any difference between a top-rated Cupertino public school versus a school with similar rating in a different Bay Area citiy such as Fremont, San Jose, or Milpitas? For example, can I expect my child to have a similar learning experience at a school that's rated 9 in a Milpitas or Fremont school district vs. a school that's rated 9 in Cupertino? What differences, if any, are there between public schools in Cupertino compared to other cities? We are looking to buy a home in a good school district, but homes in Cupertino just seem so much more expensive and I'm trying to understand why people pay such a premium for public education there if you can have a similar quality of education in more affordable areas.
I went to Monta Vista in Cupertino. There is no difference between Monta Vista and Mission San Jose. Basically you want any school that has kids with Asian immigrants parents who force their kids to study.
Ha. For the sake of argument I wonder if kids in Palo Alto, Saratoga, or Belmont/San Carlos, Los Gatos, Pleasanton, etc (read: larger proportion white) mostly get slightly lower API scores but are a lot more well rounded.
Maybe it’s still possible to achieve high test scores AND be well-rounded but I guess you have to be white to be able to do that. /s
i don’t think schools matter... i went to a certain private school that charges 45/yr for a stem focused education and have friends who attended monta vista, gunn, paly, lynbrook, and saratoga. the conclusion we all had was the rankings were driven by parents shoveling money into after school enrichment programs and pushing the kids hard
You just listed some of the best high schools in the area. I agree that any of those are good enough.
Cupertino prices are driven by location as well.
the school does not matter at all. It is all about what kind of friends your kids make in school. The house price around determines the family wealthy, understand?
The schools make no diff, teachers are generally apathetic as all public school. But the peer makeup will vary greatly from say east Oakland to Saratoga.
I went to a cupertino high school. My graduating class had at least 5 students above 3 standard deviations of intelligence and at least 25 students above 2 standard deviations
your high school had everyone do an IQ test and then posted the results publicly? depending on the size of the school, this is still normal anyways.
