Seems like to excel in marketing you need to be really good at getting everyone else to do the work.
so you watched mad men and now you’re a marketing expert?
Advertising != Marketing
If a person can do what you described, they would be considered a leader lol.
Lol ok
What kind of work are they getting other people to do?
Kind of dangerous to judge someone else’s domain. Easy to get it wrong.
Username checks out
Do devs do any work? I see their code complete itself as they type. Bunch of lazy fucks
What are you talking about? People in marketing are the ones who - create advertisements, manage ad spend across channels, track ROI on ad spend, host/create marketing events (Eg Dev conferences, etc), manage marketing deals with partners, run marketing research to inform product strategy, etc. (Btw I’m not a marketer)
Dad worked in marketing. Light work week was probably 60 hours, could easily be 80 or more between weekends, traveling, business dinners/drinks/events, and work done outside time in the office. This is in a senior role at a fortune 500, not some junior role they expect you to quit in a year or at some shitty fly by night operation. So yeah, they do plenty of work.
If it wasn't for marketing folks, you would have no FAANG, only AAN.
LOL. Facebook and Google are all about Product. Do they even have a marketing department??
Lol you are so cute! Do you know what percentage of Facebook and Google's revenue comes from dollars that marketing folks around the world spend on those two platforms? Do you think Google in it's wildest dreams would ever be able to experiment with it's moonshot projects if it didn't have that revenue coming from what the marketing community was spending? And do you think that literally billions of dollars are just spent foolishly by marketing folks without doing any work?
Just shows how little you know about marketing.
