Do you think Blind is helping increase tech wages?

I see people bragging about how their TC’s are in upwards of 500K. Do you think it helps remaining of us open a bigger mouth during salary negotiation. Also, Can you stop accepting peasant wages and keep the bar low for everyone else?

It's all BS. Everyone rounds up to the next hundred thousand.

Well also it depends on your location. Most people here are from Bay Area and Seattle. Obviously if you’re from
Midwest or the south or something your TC won’t be as high.

Not saying everybody is 100% honest on Blind. But there are plenty of pretty objective pieces of data on here. For example, I used the Google ultimate comp post extensively. That was assembled from a huge scale internal poll at Google. In general there is no incentive to lie on Blind so only trolls and attention whores do. Most are honest. I wont even tell you my TC here, since you will just call me a liar.

@Amazon, the new Blind top contributor system does incentivize lying

@Oracle yup. @Fidget It incentivizes trolls and flamebait I suppose. I am a top contributor many times over but don't show the badge since I think it just advertises how much time I have wasted here.

Blind gives you a rough idea and some help on negotiating. You don't need to blindly believe all crazy tc numbers. Cross reference with levels.fyi as well.

I asked for a raise a few weeks ago because of all the TC dick measuring on here. Turns out I have been grossly underpaid the past 2 years.

I asked for a raise and was promptly denied. Manager said I shouldn’t listen to random people on the internet. These people weren’t lying though because I got the high TC.

I framed it like: I know a lot of people in the industry and I know my base is on the low end. I’d like it re-evaluated.

Congrats on the increase, but how is 30k grossly underpaid? What percentage is that?

Blind helped me get a $100k bump in my salary. Knowledge is power. Without Blind, I'd still be blinded by the slavers in my previous company.

I could negotiate successfully as a new grad because blind told me the TC bracket for new grads at Microsoft. Time spent on blind posts paid off really well.

You grossly overestimate the share of people using blind.
Even if it did, it would only work for a handful of top tier tech companies.

For big companies, it is forcing them to pay higher within bands/levels. For mid companies it is forcing them to pay higher as well as stretch the bands. So yes it has helped increase pay generally.

Well there are a lot of people here arguing for unions so not sure if blind helped them increase wages
